A Majority of Republicans for Impeachment?
With 18 months to go in the presidency of George W. Bush, I'm tempted to ask why any of his fellow Republicans are still standing by him. This question comes from a centrist voter who used to lean right but, after watching the serial train wrecks of the Bush presidency, is now pretty much a die hard Democrat. That's how much the man and his co-conspirators have done for the Republican Party in my eyes.
The question is, after it has been made clear repeatedly that Bush and his cronies are all about Bush and his cronies — screw everyone else, including Republicans that aren't part of the inner circle, why are there any rank and file Republicans standing with the man?
If we aren't already there, aren't we getting to the point where it might actually be in the best interests of the Republican Party to impeach George W. Bush? That would be a neat and tidy way for the party and its gaggle of ill-defined presidential candidates to draw a rather stark distinction between themselves and the abortive policies of 43.
